Description

Banjo #536, known as The Fencepost, carries the spirit of rustic tradition and raw Americana. The first Fencepost banjo was built from a slice of wood taken from my mother-in-law’s old farm post, and the idea has since evolved into using barnwood and other naturally weathered pieces I come across.

This instrument is intentionally left raw, showcasing the rough textures and stories of the wood itself. The fingerboard is fretless yet carefully smoothed for playability, while the rest of the banjo embraces a rugged, untouched feel—complete with its own rusty nail, a reminder of its humble origins.

The Fencepost isn’t just a banjo—it’s a piece of history, a celebration of imperfection, and a connection to the roots of handmade folk instruments.
